Truth is something you can count on.
Telling the truth, according to one student, entails, “Telling what actually happened, even if it’s going to get me in trouble or make me look bad.”
Being honest about our thoughts, actions and feelings may put us in the position of “looking bad”, yet it helps us to respect ourselves. When we know within our hearts that we have been honest and told the truth, we can be confident that we are living up to our fullest potential.
When we do not tell the truth, we can have emotional and physical issues that affect our mind and body, as well as the irrevocable damage that deceit incurs upon trusted relationships.
Telling the truth is a positive action that can lead to initial challenges, but inevitably results in feelings of improved self-esteem and self-worth.
